Day trip to Aracena and Río Tinto from Seville
Nature, caves and unique landscapes on an amazing journey through the Sierra de Aracena and the Río Tinto Mining Basin
The day trip will begin in Seville, where your guide will pick you up at the chosen meeting point to start the journey to Aracena. This town, located in the north of the province of Huelva, will be your first stop of the day. You will stroll through its charming streets until you reach the entrance to the famous Gruta de las Maravillas, an impressive set of natural caves where you can admire spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations that are sure to impress.
You will then continue your journey through the Dehesa de Sierra Morena, a unique environment declared a Biosphere Reserve and home to the Iberian pig. In this area, known for its rich gastronomic tradition linked to Iberian ham, you will enjoy landscapes full of holm oaks and cork trees, making several stops at emblematic places such as the Medieval Castle of Aracena, the Mosque of Almonaster la Real or the Peña de Arias Montano. At midday, you will have time to have lunch in one of these towns, where you can sample typical local dishes, especially the famous Iberian ham, one of the star products of the province of Huelva.
The route will continue to the town of Riotinto, famous for its historic mines and the peculiar reddish colour of the waters of the Tinto River. This landscape, which looks like something from another planet and resembles the surface of Mars, is even studied by NASA due to its unique conditions. Here you will have the opportunity to take unique photographs in a truly amazing setting, perfect for putting the finishing touch to an unforgettable day.
