It is the old Jewish quarter of Seville. In times of the conquest of Seville by Fernando III of Castile, it concentrated the second most important Jewish community of Spain after the one of Toledo. It is good to start the itinerary in the Plaza del Triunfo, from which you access the square of Santa Marta. Through the street Mateos Gago we can connect with Santa Cruz, a perfect place to lost ourselves in its narrow streets and corners and let ourselves be carried away by the sound of water. We can’t miss: Plaza de Santa Cruz, surrounded by beautiful mansions. In its center there is a forged iron cross of the 17th. In the church of the same name rest the remains of the painter Murillo.

Plaza de los Refinadores: here we find a statue of the famous character D. Juan Tenorio, who had a special relationship with the neighborhood. Plaza de Doña Elvira: In the s. XVII there was a famous comedy theater and here had his house Don Gonzalo de Ulloa, Doha Elvira’s father, all characters of Zorrilla’s Don Juan Tenorio.

The Callejon del Agua (Water Alley) extends in parallel to the wall of the Alcazar. The Washington Irving home’s courtyard is remarkably beautiful.
